Aim to listen to Spanish being spoken and repeat what you hear, read and write Spanish, study Spanish grammar and vocabulary, and immerse yourself in the language as much as you can.
You will be surprised how quickly you can learn to speak basic Spanish. You may not be able to carry on fluent conversations but you can teach yourself essential words and phrases in a short amount of time as long as you are consistent with your studies. This is a good approach if you are traveling to a Spanish speaking country and want to know enough to get around.
